Bruna Cabral is an award-winning filmmaker from Rio de Janeiro known for her emotionally remarkable storytelling. She has degrees in Business and Management of Entertainment, Producing, and Directing from UCLA. As a Latina filmmaker and a woman in a field where our voices are often underrepresented, Cabral is driven by a deep passion for storytelling that elevates underrepresented voices.
She made her directorial debut with the film "PIECE OF ME," which she wrote and produced. The film received critical acclaim and was nominated for 35 festivals, including the prestigious Chicago International Children's Film Festival, which is accredited with the Academy Award Qualifying. It also won awards in 12 film festivals worldwide. The film tells the story of an elderly lady starting to have Alzheimer’s and her best friend, an 8-year-old boy, fighting to keep their friendship alive.
She also produced "HEADWAY," directed by Camila Rizzo, which premiered at the LA Shorts International Film Festival accredited as Academy Award Qualifying and received awards in 12 festivals. Her contributions as a producer earned her the Best Producer award at the Queen Palm International Film Festival. The story is about the dynamic between a mother and her 11 eleven-year-old son, who deals with the singularities of autism, and her brother, a MMA fighter who faces the delicate moment of retirement.
Passionate about supporting female filmmakers, Cabral ensures her projects are screened at esteemed festivals such as the Hollywood Women's Film Institute: Hollywood Women's Film Festival, La Femme International Film Festival, and Muestra de Cine Mujeres en Escena. Additionally, she has served as a jury member at the Short of the Year Film Festival in Spain, T.I.F.A – Tietê International Film Awards in Brazil, Short of the Year in Spain, and Julien Dubuque International Film Festival in the US.
Cabral's talent and versatility have led her to collaborate with renowned actors and athletes, including Andre Holland, Kate Mara, Zazie Beetz, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Aldis Hodge, Jon Lovitz, Michael Madsen, Ernest Thomas, Chris Elliott, and NFL football player Tony Gonzales. Her creative prowess extends beyond filmmaking, as she has worked on commercials, promos, and on-demand fitness content.
